Are children getting the wrong image of success? The adults in the world understand that there is no such thing as an overnight success. What seems like it took a minute to achieve took years to be put in the right position for achievement. These days kids are getting the wrong impression of what it takes to have your name in lights and it could be having an effect on their work ethic.
YouTube has made a living off of making stars out of the Internets hottest performers and craziest videos. When a child sees this they believe that all it takes is that one great moment and it could be them. This, as we all know, is far from the truth. The key to success, any long lasting success is derived from the incredibly hard work one puts into their desired occupation.
However, kids are similarly influenced by reality TV. They see people on their favorite shows and the money that they may have been paid to do it and think of it as a certain level of success. That is the hard work paying off. They do not value what real success is and it’s up to the parents to make sure they are aware that a sensation and a success are two different things.
The media makes big news out of little happens and it is ruining perception. These stars are not stars. We just tend to see it that way.
