Once temperatures reach a certain point, the jeans, long pants, and even some of those long skirts and dresses seem less appealing. It is time to pull those shorts out of the drawer and give them a try. For some women they dread this moment as shorts just don’t work for them. Either they don’t fit well, don’t look right, or they might not be all that comfortable.
You may not usually associate a skirt with your casual wear, but when things warm up, there is no better time to try. For any outfit that you would normally throw on a pair of shorts, choose a skirt instead. Just like any other pair of bottoms, it might take a few tries to find just the right blouse, tank top, or t-shirt, but the results will be well worth the time invested. If you still have concerns about seeming “overdressed,” be sure to wear casual shoes like flip flops, sandals, or even in some cases fashionable tennis shoes.
The great divide is what separates shorts from skirts. Just that one small piece of material can be the source of countless frustrations. When you try something new, like a skirt, you may be pleasantly surprised and begin to incorporate skirts into your wardrobe more frequently. Even on those days when you just aren’t “feeling the fashion,” choose one of your skirts that you feel good in and see if it makes a difference in how you feel. Next time you need to run out to the store or even head over to a summer barbecue, toss the shorts and go for the skirt.
