4 Style Tips for Your First Date

He caught your eye across the room. The first chat went well and now you’re ready for your first date. So many questions: What to wear? Will he like the outfit? Should you choose casual or dressy? Here are a few answers to help you make your first date memorable.

Compatibility is Crucial

How did you and your date get together? Compatibility is the key to a successful relationship. That’s the problem with dating, of course. How do you ensure compatibility with someone you don’t yet know? Consider a dating website, such as parship dating, to increase the odds of a successful relationship.

Check the Weather

The most fashionable ensemble and perfect accessories won’t do anything for you if you’re drenched by a rainstorm. If you can grab a minicab and avoid inclement weather all night that’s great, but prepare yourself for what the skies will do.

Know Where You Are Going

Decide what to do in advance and let your date know. That way, you can both be dressed properly – and comfortably – to enjoy that walk in the park and picnic by the lake. If you are heading for a nice dinner and a night at the theatre, jeans and trainers aren’t the right choice. Let the location of your date drive your fashion choices. Don’t force your outfit to fit the date. There are many places online for dating tips if you need advice.

Acknowledge Your Age

Regardless of the age of your date, dress for your age. If you’re in your 40s, avoid media influenced hip hop outfits. If you’re an 18-year-old, stay away from those James Bond-inspired designer tuxedos.

Diamonds are a Star’s Best Friend

The Golden Globes 2011 were an exciting affair, featuring some of the most beautiful people in the world, dressed to the nines in their finest apparel and jewelry. Some of the best-dressed celebrities included Anne Hathaway, who looked dazzling in a spangled Armani gown; Olivia Wilde, star of popular television show “House”, who chose a full-skirted chocolate brown Marchesa dress accented with gold sequins; and Carrie Underwood, who was glamorized in a Badgley Mischka pale gown accented with an elegant up-do. Some of those nominated for the worst-dressed list included Helena Bonham-Carter, who frequents the list with wild and interesting choices in apparel; Michelle Williams, who looked overwhelmed by her over-sized hippie frock; and Natalie Portman, who chose a dress that emphasized her growing baby bump with flower accents which overwhelmed the star’s tiny frame.

The best-accessorized list, however, did include Miss Portman, who wore a beautiful Tiffany and Co. diamond necklace that made her neck sparkle in the camera flashes. Jennifer Lopez selected more than $5 million worth of stunning Harry Winston diamonds, including $3 million earrings, and completed the sparkling look with a Swarovski crystal-encrusted clutch purse. Well-known actress Helen Mirren wore a gown with delicate beading at the shoulders, and complemented the look with teardrop diamond earrings and a diamond Cartier necklace, worth $1.6 million.

Some of the more popular jewelry looks on the red carpet included stud earrings paired with a more spectacular necklace; extra accessories such as hair clips, rings, and broaches; as well as fewer bracelets. Diamonds were a hit, being showcased on many types of accessories. As always, the stars were stunning, glittering on the red carpet during the Golden Globes 2011. And they showcased many of the styles and trends that will become more and more popular in the months to follow.
